Top Dodgers News

  • Guardians take aim at Dodgers in race for best record in majors

    Stats

  • Dodgers' Bobby Miller: Yields three homers

    Rotowire

Miller (2-4) allowed seven runs on five hits and three walks while striking out eight over five innings to take the loss Wednesday versus the Angels.

Miller yielded a season-high three home runs, including Mickey Moniak's three-run blast in the first inning. This was the worst of Miller's four starts since he returned to the majors in mid-August. He's now at a 7.79 ERA, 1.65 WHIP and 48:25 K:BB over 49.2 innings through 11 starts this year. He is reportedly pitching through a left knee issue, but it's not expected to cost him time. He's tentatively projected to make his next start at home versus the Cubs, though Miller could lose his spot on the 28-man roster to Yoshinobu Yamamoto (triceps) when the latter makes his return to action Tuesday.

    Stats

  • Dodgers' Landon Knack: Set to start Friday

    Rotowire

The Dodgers will recall Knack from Triple-A Oklahoma City to start Friday's game against the Guardians, David Vassegh of AM 570 LA Sports reports.

Knack will be called upon to fill the gap in Los Angeles' starting rotation created by Clayton Kershaw's (toe) move to the injured list. The 27-year-old Knack has been a reliable option for the Dodgers this season, posting a 3.00 ERA and 1.00 WHIP through 48 innings across 10 appearances (eight starts). While his time in the majors may not extend past Friday, he makes for an interesting streaming option at home.

  • Dodgers' Yoshinobu Yamamoto: Returning Tuesday

    Rotowire

Manager Dave Roberts said Wednesday that Yamamoto (triceps) will return from the injured list to start against the Cubs next Tuesday, David Vassegh of AM 570 LA Sports reports.

Yamamoto allowed three earned runs in four innings across his two rehab starts at Triple-A Oklahoma City, but the Dodgers seem to be comfortable clearing him to rejoin their rotation. The 26-year-old righty only reached 53 pitches during his most recent outing Tuesday, so it's likely he'll be working under a pitch/innings restriction as he makes his first start since June 15.

  • Dodgers' Yoshinobu Yamamoto: Works two innings in rehab start

    Rotowire

Yamamoto (triceps) tossed two innings in his rehab start for Triple-A Oklahoma City on Tuesday, allowing two runs on two hits and two walks while striking out three batters.

Yamamoto was slated to go three innings in the outing, but his pitch count got up to 53 after two frames, so he didn't return for the third. The elevated pitch count was largely due to a 17-pitch at-bat that ended in a walk against MLB veteran Omar Narvaez. While Yamamoto's final stat line was far from impressive, he did throw 36 of his 53 pitches for strikes and sat at 95-to-96 miles per hour on his fastball, so the overall takeaway was mostly positive. It's not yet clear if the right-hander will be asked to make an additional rehab start or if his next game action will be with the big-league club, though the former is probably more likely given the Dodgers' general preference to be cautious with injuries to their starting pitchers.

  • Dodgers' Mookie Betts: Drives in four in win

    Rotowire

Betts went 2-for-5 with a three-run home run, an additional RBI and a stolen base in Tuesday's 6-2 extra-inning win over the Angels.

Betts had an RBI single in the third inning and then gave the Dodgers plenty of breathing room with a homer in the 10th. He's hit safely in 11 of his last 13 games, going 14-for-51 (.275) with three homers and 18 RBI in that span. The superstar has a .302/.393/.500 slash line, 15 homers, 62 RBI, 65 runs scored and 14 steals over 93 contests this season.

  • Dodgers' Walker Buehler: Fine in no-decision

    Rotowire

Buehler allowed two runs on five hits and two walks while striking out six over five innings in a no-decision versus the Angels on Tuesday.

Buehler was able to limit the damage to solo home runs by Logan O'Hoppe and Taylor Ward. This was the first time Buehler completed five innings in four starts since he returned from a hip injury in mid-August. He's struggled to a 5.67 ERA, 1.61 WHIP and 45:20 K:BB over 54 innings across 12 starts this year. Buehler's next start is projected to be at home versus the Cubs.

  • Dodgers' Gavin Lux: Sitting against lefty

    Rotowire

Lux isn't in the Dodgers' lineup for Tuesday's game against the Angels.

The Dodgers will be facing left-hander Reid Detmers on Tuesday, so the left-handed bat of Lux will begin the game on the bench while Chris Taylor covers second base.

  • Dodgers' Mookie Betts: Drives in three runs Monday

    Rotowire

Betts went 2-for-4 with a double, a walk, three runs and three RBI in an 11-6 win over Arizona on Monday.

Betts singled home Los Angeles' first run with a third-inning single and added a two-run double in the eighth. The star right fielder has been very productive of late, knocking in at least one run in nine of his past 12 contests and tallying 14 total RBI over that span. Betts has added two homers, four doubles, nine runs, three steals and a .261/.321/.478 slash line during the 12-game stretch.

  • Dodgers' Shohei Ohtani: Swipes three bags Monday

    Rotowire

Ohtani went 2-for-4 with two walks, two runs and three stolen bases in Monday's 11-6 victory versus Arizona.

Ohtani was in full leadoff-hitter mode Monday, reaches four times without an extra-base hit and running wild on the bases. The superstar slugger has been a terror on the basepaths for over five weeks, going a perfect 22-of-22 on theft attempts over his past 34 contests. Ohtani has added 13 home runs, 24 RBI, 30 runs and 15 walks during that span, and with 44 long balls and 46 steals on the season, his pursuit of MLB's first ever 50-50 campaign is well within reach.

  • Dodgers' Teoscar Hernandez: Corrals five hits

    Rotowire

Hernandez went 5-for-5 with a double, a triple, a stolen base and two runs scored during Monday's 11-6 win over Arizona.

Hernandez logged five hits for the third time in his career and also tallied his second triple and 10th stolen base of the season. The performance was Hernandez's first multi-hit game since Aug. 21. Since the start of August, Hernandez has gone 33-for-108 (.306) with six homers, six steals, 18 RBI and 20 runs.

  • Dodgers' Freddie Freeman: Lifts pair of homers

    Rotowire

Freeman went 2-for-3 with two two-run home runs and a sacrifice fly during Monday's 11-6 win over the Diamondbacks.

Freeman notched his first multi-homer performance of the campaign, pushing the first baseman over 20 long balls for an eighth consecutive year, discounting the shortened 2020 campaign. Freeman has gone yard in three of his last four games, going 6-for-15 (.295) with 10 RBI and four runs scored during that stretch. The 34-year-old boasts a .880 OPS in 549 plate appearances.
